I saw something in the Manchester Evening News that said that the following carriers were looking into Manchester as a second destination or even third destination in the United Kingdom
United Airlines (Los Angeles) Northwest Airlines (Detroit) Air India (India?) Kenya Airways (Paris then Nairobi)
Chinese carriers to Beijing and Shanghai
Cathay Pacific (Hong Kong) Qantas (Australia?) Sydney presumably South African Airways (Johanesburg) Saudi Arabian (Saudi Arabia?) Thai International (Bangkok)
Does anyone have news on any of these or am i just dreaming that one of these might happen. Most were extensions of existing flights such as the one SQ used to operate to Manchester on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a 744 via Zurich

Saudi Arabian has announced that from June 22nd it will serve Manchester 2x weekly on Monday and Fridays to Jeddah via Geneva using B777-200 equipment. Great news for this airport which has also had a blow in the loss of Norwegian Air Shuttle to Bergen from April 13th and the loss of Air Baltic to Riga. Both of those were 2x weekly
Lets hope some more routes are announced at my local!

Great Wall has started services to Manchester, but still no news about Jett8 Cargo which apparently is not related in anyway to Singapore Airlines (apologise for that mistake). Has anyone heard of any other new carriers due to start to Manchester (preferably long haul).

I really dont get why easyJet havent gone there... Jet2 did and its been a great move for them! Everytime easyjet goes to start Jet2.com starts the routes and stops them bothering. They are not very confrontational, where easyjet may back away, ryanair would see this as an act of war!

The runways at Manchester were re-designated today. Here is the changes
24L becomes 23L, 24R becomes 23R, 06R becomes 05R and 06L becomes 05L
Now that is going to take ages for me to remember
