IMO, Jet2 should buy some 737-800 aircraft. The likes of Ryanair and Easyjet have young fleets compared to that of Jet2, and I think Jet2 would benefit from a renewwed fleet. Dont get me wrong, Jet2's current fleet of 737-300's are fine, but I think in order to keep up with the competition they should invest in some new aircraft.
Your opinions?

I think the A319's would be a great replacement to renew the fleet.

Ah but there are already B737-700's available from the Easyjet fleet and i am sure that Jet 2.com could take these if they wanted to. For now though i have to think that Jet2.com know what they are doing and i suppose the older aircraft are easier to come by. Some of their current fleet came from Lufthansa for example

Have you flown on jet2's fleet though? the planes are looking and feeling dated, and there are lots of patches on the bodywork, which could be because the airframe is getting tired.
Im not sure but dont airframes only last around 75,000 flights? Jet2 planes will cover that in no time!

i have not been on jet 2's aircraft so i suppose you are right anyway as i said before i think A319's would be perfect for the replacement.

The frames do show there age as i have witnessed. 5B-DBY was really showing its age when i flew on it in February 05 and we all know what happened to that one now don't we. Still there are older aircraft flying so they have time yet

I personally am not a huge fan of Airbus... i dont like the joystick control thing they use... and so my personal preference would be the 737-800

i think the 737-800 is a really fat aircraft!
i went to faro in 05 on a A321 and in 06 i was on a 737-800
In the A321 to faro it took 3-half hours In the 737-800 to faro in STORMS it took 2-half hours
All two flights were from Glasgow Airport
