What do you think BA will order to replace its B767-300's and the older 747's
My personal take would be as follows:
B787-800/900 to replace B767-300's
B747-800I and A380-800 to replace B747-400's with the possibility that the 748 will be substituted for B777-300ER or larger A350's.

BA has ordered some Airbuses to replace the 737's at Gatwick. At the moment there aren't enough orders to cover them all but this confirms that they want to go to an all airbus short haul fleet at the very least. Sad really.

Whys that sad? Dont you think a British National airline should have aircraft that are partly made in Britain? Mind you, I do love Boeing a/c.

It is sad purely because i think the British Airways scheme suite both the B737 and B757. Plus the airbus has less character in my opinion. Maybe the ones with winglets might who knows

Yes, I wouldnt disagree with that. I love the 757, as you can tell by my avatar. I dont see why many airlines are choosing Airbus over Boeing, such as easyJet, as the Boeing i think has a better reputation and I prefer the yoke controls over the joystick.

Airbus are offering better delivery times and costs to the world's airlines hence the reason so many are buying Airbus. I think B.A. colours look good on any aircraft whither Airbus or Boeing but at the end of the day to B.A. or any other airline it is delivery time, purchasing cost and operating cost that matters. I remember when B.O.A.C. had to cancel VC-10's in favour of Boeing 707's and the fuss this caused but the Rolls Royce Conway fitted to the VC-10 was very thirsty in comparison to the P & W's fitted on the 707 and if they were to be up there with Pan-Am and TWA they had to go for the 707. The VC-10 will always be one of my "bestest" airliners as Dell Boy would say.

Airbus are offering better delivery times. Does this include the the muck ups with the Airbus A380 and A350? With short haul airbus are probably better at delivery for BA, hence BA choosing them. It all depends on what they think will happen in the future.

Who mentioned the A-350 or A-380 ? We are talking about a very well respected and proven airliner in the business which will come into the BA fleet at the time they need it and at the right cost. I have tried to stay clear of the A-380 debate but for what it is worth I dont think it will be the success Airbus think it will be and the A-350 needs to be much better that the A-330 / 340 if it is to be a success as 777 and 787 are leading the way right now.

I do agree with you the A380 isn't likely to be as bigger success as Airbus hopes and nor will the B748. The 777 is currently the best in the world for long haul and the 330 for long haul, but once the 787 starts full rate production Airbus will lose there high ranking aircraft for long-haul. In my opinion Airbus should have thought about a successor for the A340 and A330 long before they did, but instead they went for glory with the A380 and massive delays are costing them a lot. In my personal opinion BA are more likely to get the 787 to replace the 767's since they have earlier delivery slots than the A350 and they will then make a choice between the bigger A350's, more T7's or the 748I. Either way its not far of now

As we know BA has now ordered its replacements and it looks likely that the 748I is not included i there plans at all.
