Thats really interesting. Can anyone help me raise £40 million so i can buy LBA and then a further £80 million to develop it with a new terminal and then some more to lengthen the runway and then some more for lighting and staff wages, okay maybe not then!

I agree the runway needs extending, everytime we land there it seems quite short, even for a 737, and I have no idea how the 757 manages. There has also been a 747 and Concorde in there!

HOW! did the Concorde stop in Yeadon!. I also think extensive taxiway work is a must as well because the aircraft taxi to a certain point and then have to taxi on the runway which delays other aircraft in the busy times. In my case the flight i was on to Amsterdam delayed an already late due to tech problems KLM Amsterdam flight by five minitues. As we landed i could see it behind us and this was confirmed as we taxied in at AMS. It was rather funny that two aircraft took off together and landed together because that is really rare. All the wonders for the business class passengers because the poor got to Amsterdam first! he he he!

It can be a tricky airport to land at being on top of a hill when you have a cross wind and if pilots are not used to this type of condition they get over the fence with the aircraft at 30 to 40 degrees to the runway and tend to flair out too quickly at the threshold and drop it down suddenly. The same thing happens at Cork (ORK) as it also is on a hill. I will be doing a little stint in and out of ORK on Wednesday and Thursday 11th. and 12th.

Is there any news on plans to expand the current airport at all or will it remain the same size allowing doncaster to take over some of the traffic that was rightfully due for LBA

Ive not heard a lot yet, but latest reports are that the airport could be getting a rail link to.. well I cant remember where to lol. Just so its easier t get to. I would love them to expand it, I might get to some decent spotting then
